Three Reasons Your Target Customers Don't Know Your Brand
Vert Idee · Fresh IdeasImagine how it feels to have your new house collapse just when you are about to move in? That's exactly how it feels to have a brand that your target audience does not even know about. Knowing fully well that the main objective of organizations is to maximize profit, it would be very difficult to achieve this primary objective if the organization's target audience isn't aware of its existence.
Below are 3 key reasons your target audience does not know your brand.
1. You have a Brand name, not a Brand
Many times, organizations make the mistake of believing that their names are enough for their target customers to find them and get stuck to them. Although this works for organizations who already made efforts through branding to ensure that their name always ring a bell to customers -- it is not the case with organizations who think the only way to brand is to 'name' their organization.
Ever met someone who told you his name but, days later you could only recall what he wore, what his face looks like but not his name? So, what if your target customers can't recall your name, how else can they recognize your products or services? Do you have a logo? What is your customer service like? What feelings do the use of your products leave in their minds? What's your business slogan? Your colours? Your style? Your customer touch points?
Before you get your target audience to know you, you must have a brand, not just a brand name.
2. They don't know you because you don't know them
It's very fair to say that your target customers do not know your brand because you also haven't made any effort to know them. Have you identified and defined your target customers? Are your target customers private individuals or other businesses? Are they old or young? Are they males or females or both? Have you defined your target customers by their geographical location, age, needs, current services being patronized and other similar factors?
Until you identify and define your target customers, you are talking to everybody and when you talk to everybody, nobody hears, sees, or gets to know you.
3. You don't advertise, or you do but maybe not the right way
To get your target audience to know your brand after you must have built your brand, identified and defined your target audience, you must create awareness for your brand targeting your defined audience. This is the point where the knowledge about your target audience comes to play.
Where is your target audience? What medium of advertising would get to them? What type of content appeals to them? To get your target customers to know and patronize you, you not only have to be in their faces all the time, but you will also need to be in their faces in the way they like.
